All of a sudden, Windows 7 stopped to recognize fat32 and exFAT formatted usb sticks and sd cards. The first incident happened recently, when i inserted the sd card of my camera to get its contents (the same way i used to do it always). Instead of the usual auto-play dialog, Windows prompted me to format the card, before i can use it. Under the Format drop-down menu, you have several options. The only ones we're interested in here are MS-DOS (FAT32) and ExFAT. Which to choose depends on what size storage cards you're using. If your SD card is 64GB or larger, choose ExFAT. If your SD card is 32GB or smaller, choose MS-DOS (FAT32). There are no native exFAT real-mode DOS drivers, which would allow usage of, or booting from, exFAT volumes. The renaming of ExFAT file system labels is natively supported by Microsoft Windows Explorer, while Linux relies on the third-party exfatlabel tool. - – At the confirmation dialog, click 'Done' button.
- – Close the Disk Utility window.
